Australian-born Paul Rigby was an award-winning cartoonist for "The New York Post" and "The Daily News." It is estimated that he created some 15,000 cartoons during his lifetime. One of his favorite targets was Mayor of New York, Ed Koch. In 1979 Bob Hope and cast members of Broadway shows held a benefit performance for the Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx at Lincoln’s Center Avery Fisher Hall. Rigby’s cartoon depicts Bing Crosby as an angel. Crosby had already been involved with the previous benefit for the School, just 10 months before his death in October, 1977, and in this cartoon he is depicted as passing the torch for the benefit/fundraiser to Hope, who is leading the troop of performance. The arrow with the text Road to the Fordham Prep is a tribute to the iconic "Road to" film series.
