The setting for this yacht race is New York Harbor, with boats sailing in the shadows of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Governor's Island.
Description"The Yacht Race" board game in a box with board, spinner and eight sailboat shaped playing pieces; quad-fold board with a map image of New York harbor with sections of Brooklyn, lower Manhattan, Staten Island, and New Jersey, as well as the Statue of Liberty, Governor's Island and the Brooklyn Bridge; playing spaces are marked in the center of the harbor and around the edges; back of the board covered in red paper and inscribed in gold, "Game of Yacht Race;" box cover decorated with two sailboats in a medallion, flowers and the inscription, "THE/ YACHT RACE/ GAME/ PATENTED, DEC 27. 1887. McLOUGHLIN BROS; N. Y.;" cardboard and metal spinner fits into a hole in the board and is inscribed with compass directions, the numbers 1 through 6 and "HEAD WIND/ FAIR WIND" in blue, yellow and red ink; eight sailboat shaped playing pieces set into metal holders.Markingsprinted: on the game board: "WHISTLING BUOY/ SCOTLAND LT.
