These trousers were worn by General Robert Lee Bullard (1861-1947). Bullard served for 40 years as an officer in the U.S. Army. During World War I he was commander of the 2nd Army of the American Expeditionary Force. He graduated from West Point in 1885. As a 2nd Lieutenant he was sent to fight the Apaches under Geronimo. After retirement in 1925 he was appointed president of the National Security League. The Society owns all of Bullard's uniforms.

DescriptionBlack wool officer's dress trousers with 2 gold lace stripes down each leg; 5 button fly at the front (1 button missing), with a tab to the left of the fly which fastens to a button inside the waistband, fly with 1 hook and eye to the right on the waistband; 4 pockets, 4 suspender buttons around the waistband, 2 straps at the rear beneath the waistband with a rectangular metal buckle with double-tongued chape; waistband lined with black silk, pockets lined with black cotton or linen.
