DescriptionCardboard and paper peep-show or "perspective" showing Constantinople; orange cardboard box with a quatrefoil center window flanked by two small circular windows surrounded by a printed scene of Constantinople from the banks of the Bosphorus with numerous figures in Turkish dress; interior with accordion folds decorated with hand-colored printed views of buildings and figures in Turkish dress leading to a view of the Hagia Sophia.
Markingswritten: in browned ink on bottom of box: "[au] $1.55" printed: on cover of box attached to peepshow: "CONSTANTINOPEL" written: in black ink on bottom of box (or reverse of peepshow): "SYDNEY H. CARNEY . SR/LOWELL , MASS./1845"
