DescriptionSeamed gilt silver and onyx snuffbox; rectangular box with straight sides, seamed below the hinge; hinged cover with straight sides; oval flange on the front of the cover; onyx rectangle with chamfered edges set into a molded band on the top of the cover; oval mosaic image of the Piazza St. Peter, Vatican City, Rome in the center of the onyx rectangle; gilt interior; stamped "STERLING" on the base.
