DescriptionSeamed and wrought silver and tortoise shell snuffbox; oval box with straight sides seamed beneath the nailed cylindrical hinge; applied oval, slightly domed base engraved, "H : L" in block letters in the center; oval tortoise shell cover set into a molded band which attaches to the hinge; shell engraved with a vignette of a man fishing in front of a church; no maker's mark.
