DescriptionBlack beaver (silk) top hat with very slightly flared crown with flat top and slightly rolled brim with edges bent inward on either side; wide black wool felt band on exterior with narrow band of black silk ribbon encircling base; white leather sweatband and cream silk lining.

Markingsprinted: inside top of crown: "EXTRA QUALITY / BY APPOINTMENT / [insignia with French mottoes] / SCOTT & Co. / Hatters to H.M. the King / AND / The Royal Family, / 1, OLD BOND STREET, / PICCADILLY, W." ink stamped: inside top of crown: "AVHS" ink stamped: on cardboard lining sweatband (left side): "20 SEP. 1937" stamped in gold: on sweatband (left side): "Scotts / HATTERS TO H.
