This sword belt was part of a uniform worn by Lieutenant Colonel George Schermerhorn while a member of the 7th Regiment, National Guard New York.
DescriptionLeather and brass sword belt; black leather belt with sliding loop near center suspending scabbard sling with brass end hook that snaps onto sling fastened to brass clip that suspends from frog sewn on left side, and rectangular brass plate at right end that fastens to loop on left; plate has stamped foliate lettering in center, flanked by wreath and with beaded background.
