William Johnson

American, 1769 – 1848
BiographyWilliam Johnson was the son of Asahel and Eunice (Wetmore) Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut. He studied law after graduating from Yale College in 1788, and set up his practice in New York in the 1790s. He became a member of The New-York Historical Society in 1805, and served as chairman of its standing committee.
