DescriptionCream silk satin commemorative ribbon printed in black; depicts engraved shoulder-length portrait of Adams within oval medallion at center with inscription: "JOHN QUINCY ADAMS./Born in Massachusetts, July 11th 1767./Died at the Capital in Washington Feb. 23rd 1848/Aged 81 Years./In his public character/He was resolute and immoveable,/In his private character/He was generous & of exceeding good nature:/He loved his Country with a sincerety,/Which seemed to distinguish him from all mankind./His fame si so blended within the hearts of his Countrymen/that it will live when all the frail monuments of art/shall have crumbled into dust."MarkingsInscription: below portrait, printed in black: "Sold by Edward P.
