DescriptionSilver struck medal with obverse depicting standing allegorical female figure of Architecture, facing left, holding scroll with blueprints in front of three draped youths at left, holding miniature model of ancient Greek building and compasses; tree at left; pillar capitals below and at right; beaux-arts building surrounded by scaffolding in background; inscription in exergue: "LA SOCIETE HONORE/ET ENCOURAGE LES HAUTES/ETUDES D'ARCHITECTURE/1877." Reverse depicts compasses, laurel and oak branches with superimposed ornate tablet at center, with inscription: "To the Honorable/George B. Mc Clellan/Mayor of New York City/1907"; inscription at lower center: "DIPLOMES/PAR LE"; legend within line border: "SOCIETE des ARCHITECTES - /GOUVERNEMENT." Medal is inset into square black leather case with dark green silk satin and silk velvet interior.
