J." in Old English characters; maker's hallmarks stamped along undersides of arms.Markingsstamped: on the inside of one arm: "TENNEY" in rectangular surround and "251 B. WAY", also in rectangular surround; second arm stamped with "W & H" in diamond surround framed by conjoined eagle and portrait bust in oval surrounds
