According to accession records, this canteen was used during the Civil War by William Dubois of the 28th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteers.
DescriptionTin, wool, cotton, pewter, and iron canteen; oblate, circular tin body with brown wool cover, white canvas sling running through tin loops on sides and bottom, and cylindrical pewter mouthpiece with cork stopper capped with iron ring that fastens with string to loop on left side of canteen.
