The "Olympian" pattern was introduced at the Exposition Universelle, Paris in 1878, though the design was not patented until August 17. 1879 to Edward C. Moore. It is possible, however, that the design is attributable to F. Antoine Heller. Within the pattern there are seventeen different handle decorations, each depicting subjects and stories from classical mythology.
DescriptionSilver "Olympian" pattern child's fork and spoon, the former with four tines and the latter with oval bowl; each with wavy handle with relief depiction on obverse of "Diana and her nymphs being surprised by Pan"; reverse of handle with impaled hart and engraved inscription; mask in low relief on reverse below shoulder; stamped maker's mark on reverse of handle.
Markingsengraved: on reverse of handle: "Harriet / 1884" stamped: on reverse of handle: "M TIFFANY & Co STERLING PAT. 1878"
