According to the accession records, this cap belonged to Col. John B. Walker of the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Col. Walker served as commanding officer, Base Hospital No. 116, A.E.F., during World War I, and as a consultant during demobilization. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in 1922. Various other parts of his uniform are also in the N-YHS Collection.
DescriptionOlive drab wool service cap with brown leather visor and chin strap; metal insignia plate consisting of shield-breasted eagle below banner and starburst; buttons securing chin strap decorated with similar motif.
