This shirt was worn by George A. Zabriskie (1868-1954), a descendent of Albert Zabriskie who came from Poland in 1662 to settle in New Amsterdam. During World War I, George served as adviser to the government on the commodities of flour and sugar. He became a life member of the Society in 1920, was elected treasurer in 1929, and was chosen president in 1939. The Society also owns other pieces of this uniform.

DescriptionOff-white linen dress shirt with 1" closed stand-up collar (1 collar button), with starched ribbed bib at the breast with placket opening, with 1 shirt stud closure with tidy-pin shank, starched ribbed open double cuffs suited for cuff links; open back has 1 mother of pearl collar button with metal shank at the back of the collar, with 1 mother of pearl button approximately 2" beneath, 1 mother of pearl button near the waistline.
