This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.

DescriptionCopperplate-printed cotton textile fragment printed in pink on a white ground; chinoiserie repeating pattern of an open window looking out on a pastoral landscape with a plantstand and large basket of flowers in the center, windows draped with tapestries abd tassels held up by two bald eagles, two urns in the lower corners with acorn finials and images of asian men on them; pattern bordred on either side by flowering vines.
