DescriptionRectangular mahogany writing desk with flat, hinged lid, brass handles flush with sides, curved brass mounts at corners attached with rivets, keyhole, and tiny brass handle flush with front of desk; on inside of lid, painted writing surface folds out to side, with slanted surface inside lid covered in green felt, next to three vertical compartments, with writing instrument with wooden shaft and ivory tip; in other side of desk, two brass rollers mounted vertically on one side of central compartment, with narrow compartment containing black painted sheet metal cylinder with lid containing colorless glass bottle with metal lid, and square bottle with piece of red sealing wax stuck to top.
Markingswritten: on paper label inside desk: "Writing desk and copying press/used by Thomas Worthington.Gov. of Ohio 1815-1819./Presented by Rufus King/July 23, 1931"
