According to accession records, this piece belonged to the donor's grandmother, Mary Lorrain Peters (1822- after 1903). The donor called the chest a toy chiffonier.
DescriptionPine toy chest with three drawers with turned pulls, supported by bracket feet, with iron lock in top drawer; front exterior grained.
Markingswritten: in pencil on back of two drawers: "Made by J. Smith 109 Allen Street/N York Nov. 1 1856"
