According to the accession records, this chair originally belonged to descendants of Alexander Hamilton and later to the Holly family of Connecticut, ancestors of the donor.
DescriptionMahogany Empire armchair; scroll back with tablet with thin, inlaid brass border, a single rounded slat with rope-twisted center, and scroll arms on ring-turned arm supports; trapezoidal seat with textile upholstery; ball-and-ring-turned front legs and square, outswept rear legs with feet ending in casters.
