William Griffith was the son of Dr. John Griffith and was born at Boundbrook, New Jersey. He was admitted to the New Jersey bar in 1788, served in the New Jersey Assembly in 1818-19 and 1823-24 and was mayor of Burlington from 1824 to 1826.
