According to the donor, this scene was taken from a drawing done by Michaele Felice Corné (1757-1845); the engraving was done by Wightman; it was published by Abel Bowen in "Naval Monument" in 1816.
DescriptionOval pearlware platter with lobed corners; blue transfer printed flower and mottled shell border; rectangular scene of naval battle in center (engagement between U.S. frigate Chesapeake and H.M.S. Shannon 1813).
