DescriptionPewter struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Christopher Columbus within central roundel, surrounded by elaborate border comprised of figures of Native American and Columbia, joining hands, with world globe above and eagle below; legend: "CRISTOFORO COLOMBO." Reverse depicts group of Native Americans, awe-struck by apperance of winged Columbia, at upper left, surrounded by winged putti holding burning torch, cornucopia, and caduceus; sun rising in background, at left; date above: "MDCCCXCII"; all within ornate border of shields and stars.
