Thie medal was the tenth issued by the Circle of Friends of the Medallion for its members on June 1914. This organization, headquartered at the National Arts Club at Gramercy Park, was formed to encourage interest in small sculptures and bas-relief.

DescriptionBronze struck medal commemorating the 100th anniversary of the War of 1812-1814 between Great Britain and the United States; the obverse shows two nude male athletes locked in a struggle; behind them are two battle ships in a cloud of smoke; legend above: ".INTER.FRATRES.BELLVM.VLTIMVM." ["The last war between brothers"]; inscription below exergual line: "MEDALLIONI.AMICORVM.SVMPTIS." ["at the expense of the Friends of the Medallion."] Reverse shows standing winged female figure with laurel branch symbolizing peace, eagle at left (America) and lion at right (Great Britain); inscription at right of image: "./PAX/PER/C/AN/NOS." [Peace for 100 years]; date below exergual line: "1814-1914." Medal inset into book-style clothbound presentation case of the Circle of Friends of the Medallion containing historical background with gold embossed logo with portrait of Pisanello at upper right corner of cover and number "10" on upper section of spine; engraved bookplate with initials "JMA" applied to inside of front cover.
