This respirator was used by Bronx-based construction worker Salvatore Romano as he joined rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center immediately following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Romano was searching for his nephew, an employee of Marsh & McLennon and one of many people missing after the attack.
