Lucy M. Durand was the daughter of Asher B. Durand and his first wife, Lucy (Baldwin) Durand. She became the wife of George Woodman, a banker of New York, and lived in Orange, New Jersey. This portrait was a gift to the New-York Historical Society from her daughter.
