This dress coat was worn by G. Creighton Webb (1854-1948) during his service in the Spanish-American War.
DescriptionDark blue wool double-breasted officer's dress coat, with 1 1/2" closed stand-up collar (1 hook and eye), epaulette attachments at the shoulders, 9 buttons down each side of the front, closed false cuff sleeves with 3 buttons at each wrist; 4 panels at the back of the bodice with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, a button at each side of split skirt; coat lined with dark green silk, vertical slit pocket at the left breast, breast lightly padded and quilted.
Markingsprinted: on maker's label inside breast pocket: "Maj Gnl G Webb / 10/3/98 / 1666"
