According to the accession record, these shoe buckles belonged to Abigail Lispenard Bleecker, the grandmother of Anthony Bleecker, who was one of the founders of the New-York Historical Society.
DescriptionPair of rectangular shoe buckles with rounded corners, in case; buckles have nickel frame set with single row of paste gems, bow ties at center top and bottom, hinged chape and tongue at center reverse; case is wooden covered with dark brown leather, lid is arched and hinged to the box at the back, metal latches at the front, lined inside with pink satin, cardboard separates the box into two containers.
