Belonged to William De Peyster, Jr. (1735-1803) and his second wife, Christina Dally (1748-1813), whose initials are engraved in the center.
DescriptionSeamed silver teapot; oval body with straight sides seamed under the handle; applied, cast beaded band at the base and at the shoulder; applied, concave shoulder and flat top with an inset, hinged oval lid raised to a low dome in the center with a pineapple and leaf finial screwed through the center; bright-cut foliate and bell flower bands around the edge of the shoulder and the edge of the lid; engraved floral motif over the hinge; straight seamed and tapered spout; handle sockets cylindrical in section and fitted with a wooden c-scroll handle; bright-cut oval suspended from a bow knot and surrounded by floral garlands on each side; in oval right of the handle is the De Peyster family crest, a tree in a field; in oval left of the handle are the initials, "W C D P" in bright-cut script; maker's marks on the base.Markingsengraved: in oval right of the handle: the De Peyster family crest, a tree in a field in oval left of the handle are the initials, "W C D P" in bright-cut script;
