These sugar tongs was a wedding gift to the donor's parents, Alice Townsend Martin, whose initials are engraved on the service, and Benjamin Brandreth McAlpin, on November 10, 1897.
Descriptionsilver bow-type sugar tongs; U-shape form with broad bow, fiddle shaped arms and bird's claw grips; cast crown over shell decoration on the outside of each arm with "1870" engraved on one and "1895" engraved on the other.
