DescriptionRoughly square earthenware plate with slightly serpentine sides and scalloped corners; center with green transfer-printed image of assembly meeting with standing male figure (identified as John Adams) in center of a large room with fireplace at left, two large sash windows in one wall, and high ceiling with chandelier suspended from center; flower and scroll pattern on rim.
Markingstransfer printed: on obverse, below central image: "John Adams proposing Washington / for Commander-in-Chief of / the American Army" transfer printed: on reverse: "George Washington / Bicentenary / Memorial / Plates / 1732-1932 / First in War / First in Peace / First in the Hearts of His Countrymen" and "Crown Ducal / England"
