Although this portrait was not included among the nine portraits listed in Ames's account book for 1825, both Bolton and Cortelyou examined the painting and its inscription and pronounced it authentic. A small lithographic print was made from it by F. D'Avignon, an impression of which is owned by New-York Historical Society.
