DescriptionBrass and black enameled metal microscope (a) in rectangular maple case (b) with hinged front door with lock and key and metal handle on top. Various accessories (key, body tube, eyepiece, diaphragm, magnifier, scalpel, two forceps, glass slide in box, pulley, and four small parts including: a screw, a gasket, a fabric washer, and an unidentified metal part) stored in small drawer in proper right top corner of case, and chart with printed instructions tacked to inside of door.
MarkingsStamped on brass plate affixed to top of microscope: "PAT. OCT. 3, 1876. / PAT. OCT. 13, 1885."
