The cut decoration is standard for an American piece and is similar to decoration on a sugar bowl and lamp in the Toledo Museum, and mug in the Corning Museum that are attributed to the Union Flint Glass Works (see publications).
DescriptionColorless blown and cut lead glass decanter; bulbous form with sloping shoulders cut with wide flutes at base and shoulders, with band of alternating circular blaze and strawberry diamonds with fan; tapered neck with three applied rings and flanged lip, and flat base with polished pontil mark; cut stopper with faceted ball on tapered stem with ground plug (not original to decanter).
