Marian L. Morris of Philadelphia was married to John Borland Thayer in the early 1890s. Her husband, a vice-president and director of the Pennsylvania Railroad, was lost on the "Titanic," which struck an iceberg on April 14, 1912. Mrs. Thayer and her son, John, Jr., who were also aboard, were rescued.
