DescriptionThirty-two comb black painted leather fire helmet with tooled floral vine border on brim; black leather frontpiece with firefighting tools painted at center and "[N]Y EXEMPT ASSOCIATION" and "GHN" in gold painted leather lettering; gilded brass lion frontpiece holder; textile half-lining with cotton fiber padding.
Markingsapplied leather: on frontpiece: "[N]Y / EXEMPT / ASSOCIATION / GHN" incised: on underside of brim: "EFA" handwritten: on paper affixed inside crown: "M. CALL . . ." painted: underside of brim: "2334"
