Estelle Anna Blanche Robinson, the daughter of John N. Robinson, was born near Baltimore. After her marriage to Sylvanus D. Lewis in 1841 she resided in Brooklyn until 1858 when she was divorced. She lived abroad thereafter and, using the pen name "Stella," was a frequent contributor of poems and essays to periodicals and literary magazines. Several volumes of her works were published, including "Records of the Heart" (1884) and "Sappho: A Tragedy in Five Acts" (1875).
