Reverse shows legend: "WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY; AND THEY ARE OURS/PERRY [at center below]" above blank space surrounded by laurel wreath and the word "TO" inside; inscription below: "IN TESTIMONY OF HIS/PATRIOTISM AND BRAVERY/IN THE NAVAL ACTION ON/LAKE ERIE/SEPTEMVER 10. 1813."
