DescriptionBronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of Washington facing right with surrounding legend: "GEORGIO WASHINGTON SVPREMO DVCI EXERCITVVM ADSERTORI LIBERTATIS"; inscription in exergue: "COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse shows Washington and his staff, on horseback, watching the British evacuation of Boston and entrance of the American forces; legend above: "HOSTIBUS PRIMO FUGATIS"; inscription in exergue: "BOSTONIUM RECUPERATUM/XVII.MARTII/MDCCLXXVI."
