William Rush exhibited his portrait bust of Washington at the annual show of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1817. The Society's replica was taken from that terracotta original which is now owned by the Valley Forge Museum of American History. It is not known whether the Society's replica was produced by Rush himself.
