MarkingsFork is marked in several locations. Reverse of tines stamped "ENGLAND" in Roman characters. Stand marked "SMITH'S PATENT" and "FEBY 9TH 1881" in block characters. Band at neck of handle and border at finial both stamped "STERLING" in block characters.

Descriptionsilver carving knife with a bone handle with a hollow cast finial; shield-shape finial, cast in vertical halves, with feathered, foliate and geometric decoration and a beaded border around the socket; cylindrical handle socket with a heart band and beaded edge; flat blade with a chamfered edge, comes to a point; maker's mark stamped on the blade.
