Malvina Hoffman trained with the renowned French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Here she depicts herself with classically styled hair in an idealized profile reminiscent of Greco-Roman portraiture. Hoffman honed her anatomically correct approach to sculpture while dissecting cadavers at New York’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.
