According to the accession records, this desk belonged to Mrs. Effingham Lawrence (nee Watson), great-grandmother of the donor. Mrs. Lawrence died in 1853 at the age of 89.
DescriptionMahogany Empire writing table with leather-lined writing surface; one center drawer and two drawers on each side with brass ring pulls attached to lion mask mounts (not original); raised on tapering columnar legs with reeding; front legs with paw feet, and rear legs with ball feet.
