Merril G. Wheelock
Date: 1822 - 1866
Remarks: The oldest of nine children, Wheelock's family moved to Massachusetts shortly after his birth. He worked as a painter and architect in Boston from 1853 until his death. Wheelock is said to have designed the old Masonic Temple in Boston and to have illustrated Thomas Starr King's narrative of his exploration of the White Mountains, published in 1860 under the title, The White Hills.
