Amelie Troubetskoy

Remarks: Amelie Rives was the daughter of Colonel Alfred Landon Rives and Sadie (McMurdo) Rives. She was a talented writer and her first novel "The Quick or the Dead," sold 300,000 copies, in 1888. Miss Rives married John Armstrong Chanler, a New York lawyer, that same year. The couple divorced several years later. She remained a prominent New York socialite and continued to publish novels under her maiden name. In 1896, Ms. Chanler married Prince Troubetskoy, a Russian artist. Mrs. Troubetskoy, continue her literary career until 1903.
