William Leete Stone
Date: 1792 - 1844
Remarks: William Leete Stone, Sr. was the son of Rev. William and Tamson (Graves) Stone. He was associated with several upstate New York newspapers during his early career. from 1821 to 1844 he was one of the owners of New York "Commercial Advertiser", using that position to advance several causes in which he took a special interest, among them the Federalist party, the Greek struggle for independence, the Erie Canal, and the emancipation of slaves. He was the author of several historical novels and stories.
