Edmund Stedman

Remarks: Edmund Clarence Stedman was the son of Edmund Burke Stedman and Elizabeth Clementine (Dodge) Stedman. He studied law. His business interest included partnerships in several newspapers and a clockmaking firm. Mr. Stedman gained literary acclaim for his writing talent with his poem "The Diamond Wedding. (1859)" He was a battlefield correspondent for the New York World, during the Civil War. After the war, he opened a brokerage firm, and devoted his spare time to writing and publishing his poems.
