Alfred Anderson Smith

Remarks: Alfred Anderson Smith became a lawyer and was involved in city politics from 1832. He married Catherine Matilda wines on October 10, 1832. Smith was a close friend of Samuel Tilden and became comptroller of the City of New York in 1841 when Robert H. Morris was mayor. He was in charge of the official welcoming and entertainment when Charles Dickens visited the city in 1842.
