Archibald Robertson
Date: 1765 - 1835
Remarks: Miniature and portrait painter, teacher of painting. He was trained as a painter in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and London, he emigrated in 1791 and settled in NYC. Robertson enjoyed for the next thirty years a successful career as a miniaturist and, with his brother Alexander, proprietor of the Columbian Academy of Painting. His wife, Eliza Abramse of NYC was also an artist of talent. Robertson was a member and Director of the American Academy.
