Andrew James Robertson
Remarks: Andrew was theyoungest son of William Robertson. He studied painting in his native Aberdeen with his brother Archibald, with Alexander Nasmyth and briefly with Sir Henry Raeburn. In 1801he went to London where he studied at the Royal Academy. In London he became one of the leading miniaturists of the first quarter of the nineteenth century. He soon received the royal patronage of the Duke of Sussex, the Prince of Wales and others at Windsor Castle, and he painted miniatures of many of his artist friends, including Benjamin West, David Wilkie, and Sir Francis Chantrey.
